I just turned the big 4-0

I just turned 40. This is not my year for living dangerously. I am not really fabulous (just little but its a quiet kind of fabulous). I want to actually jot down my attempts to improve my fitness, my personal cooking adventures and for everyone that knows me (or read blogs before 2011) my favorite: my family. I love to read so somewhere along the way, I intend to add stuff about books that I like to read....Hopefully, I will stick with this for more than 2 days....

I inherited Days of Our Lives viewing

I can distinctly remember being in the second grade.  It was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and my mother and I bought a small bouquet of flowers.  She was spreading out a cornucopia of fruit (something she still does for T-day) and turned the television to Days of Our Lives.  I remember thinking that Dennis the Menace was on and I hated watching these old fogies.  I'm 40, so when I was 7, we had 2 tvs, one in my parents room and one in the living room.  When we were little, parents had first watch and last say.

Fast forward a little over 30 years and I only request the tv in sitting room at one time per day.  From 1-2, on NBC, so that I can watch Days of Our Lives.  I don't watch it religiously right now but the comfort in having it there while I make lunch, plans and pay bills is the best.  In this era of ever disappearing soap operas or "stories" as my older aunts called them, I value the continuity of story lines and characters.  Heck, Marlena was on that day it November 1979, or was it her twin sister.  No matter, the show my mom, grandmom and great grandmother watched back then is still her when the last two women have gone on to their final reward.  Some days, I like to think that maybe Grandma is up there talking to Mrs. Horton...

O R I O N R A I N BLOG: Blame It On The Black Guy In The White House

I love book blogs.

I have been reading the most amazing book blogs!  They have pictures, banners and contests.  I have 3 (well 4) blogs because I kept forgetting my blazing address and password.  Google+ put it here so at least now I can find it!  I have currently adding 30 titles to my kindle fire but I'm not moving towards reading them.  I think I need to sign up for a reading challenge so I have an excuse to get moving and grooving.  If anyone is out there, what are you reading?  Any tips on how to make this blog look good?

My first book I am going to give a whirl today is Robyn Carr's Shelter Hearts.  I will come back and give you a quick review.Robyn Carr's website.

I entered a contest on her website, woohoo!  I love book contests.  Since I'm never going to win the lottery, this is my megamillions.

Today is a day with excedrin written all over it

Just when I thought I had taught (okay baby food fed) my son his Scientific Method facts. What? No, he never brought the words or worksheets home. Huh? Yes, I took his ds away for that. Huh? No, I don't think he learned his lesson but I know all about the steps, facts about the scientific method. He comes home pouting, just stomping off of the school bus. "STUPID teacher, I HATE her."

Wow, it's her fault that you simply confused procedure and purpose. I could see how they are so close in definition. When I looked thru the backpack today, I saw on a class worksheet the last wrong answer: What are 2 things good hypothesis (es?) have???? Answer (wrong on w/s and quiz) No opinions can be a hypothesis. So, the question of the day is: What the heck were you doing when she went over this in class????

UGGGGG. Looks like I'll be playing some rainbow Kirby again when I lie in bed crying over my kids and school.

That's right, I'm talking to you (no, not you, that would be rude). I'm talking to the rude little boys that are reading over my shoulder (out loud and laughing, no less). GO FIND SOMETHING TO DO!!!!
